One day in speaking about God’s blessings on my life I began recalling the various miracles I’ve experienced. As a result, I felt compelled to begin describing the miracles in my life. Here we go:
Years ago, while at my yearly exam, my doctor indicated she felt a lump in my breast. I was young, in my early thirties, so while I was not concerned about breast cancer during that stage of my life, I was one to conduct periodic breast exams, to familiarize myself with my breast. I had never felt a lump in my breast, even after the doctor told me she felt a lump, I still couldn’t feel it. My doctor ordered a mammogram. Afraid but not too concerned I went for my scheduled mammogram. After completing the exam, the technician asked me to wait. She eventually came back to tell me that while my doctor thought she’d felt a lump, the test results didn’t show anything, but after contacting the doctor to inform her, my doctor insisted they go back and check again as she was sure there was something there. Mind you this was over a week’s period of time from the doctor’s visit to the now scheduled mammogram. So, the technician performed another exam and took it to be reviewed instantly by another doctor. The issue was that the technician didn’t see the lump because the size of it was so large that she mistook it for nothing, or so that was what was told to me. The next scheduled visit was the biopsy, which revealed that the lump was benign. I was scheduled for a return visit a few months later. That visit revealed that the lump had grown in size. According to my doctor, while it was benign, it took on the characteristics of a malignant tumor. So, I was scheduled for a lumpectomy. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3: 5- 6
On the day of the lumpectomy, I can honestly say I was terrified. The thought of having surgery and the idea of the tumor having turned cancerous was overwhelming. A few of my family members were present at the hospital on the day of the surgery. I remember the orderly coming to take me to the operating room and just before he led me away, my family stopped to have prayer with me. The orderly then led me away. While he led me through the double doors, before taking me to the actual operating room, he stopped. I was shivering from fear and from the coldness of the hospital. He asked me if I wanted a warm blanket to which I said yes. When he brought the blanket back and laid it over me, he asked me if he could pray for me, to which I said yes. He lowered his head, laid hands on my leg, and began to silently pray. At the moment he laid his hands on my leg the shivering stopped. When he lifted his head from praying, he smiled a huge smile and said “You’re going to be ok. Everything is ok”. At that very moment, a peace-filled my entire being. I was no longer afraid. (And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7). As the orderly led me into the operating room, he told me he’d be back after the surgery to get me. I never saw him again. Here’s what I know for sure:
- God used the doctor to identify the lump and insist it be identified and properly treated and tracked. Remember, I couldn’t find a lump and the technicians said they didn’t see a lump.
- God sent a messenger to let me know it would be ok.
For He will give His angels orders concerning you, To protect you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
I really liked how incorporated scripture with your message it tied everything in a relatable way.
Sandra, great read. God is good and He uses His ministering angels so strategically. We never know who, where or when they will be sent. Praise God for the many resources He has for those who believe.
Thanks for sharing.
“Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it.!” Hebrews 13:2 NLT
Good afternoon,
I believe the doctor that prayed for you was an angel sent by God.
Exodus 23:20 NLT
20: “See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you.
I totally agree Tyreece. Thanks for the scripture reference.
